How to handle .gpx files
1.Use a program that can view them.
A good app is View Ranger. It is free to download, but OS maps must be paid for.
The maps can be bought for a small area or the whole of the UK and cost about the same
as paper ones. There is now and again a sale when you can get the whole of thr UK for £200.
The maps are good for 4 devices, so they can be shared as long as you use the same log in address.
The app does have free maps like "Open Cycle Maps" which although not as good as OS maps
will get you home.
3.You can convert .gpx to other file formats so they can be viewed by other devices.
To do this use GPSBable, it can be downloaded for free by clicking the link.
It converts to many other formats like .tcx for Garmin or .kml for Google Earth
